The two same-sex lovers
walk hand in hand
with fake smiles etched
on their faces.
They look so happy
to outside eyes.

By the first block
people stare at them
strangely.
By the second block
their expressions turn
nasty.

By the seventh block
they begin whispering.
How can something as
beautiful
as love
be seen as
disgusting?

By the tenth block
they are being harassed
how gross it must look
two boys holding hands.

But rather than letting go
they clutch on tighter
knowing that that one hand
is their only source of comfort.

The stares and whispers
can't go ignored
but they can still dream
and hope
for a future together.

My second poem spurred on by the evil Prop 8. The only thing I don't like about this is the ending that I just randomly came up with. I must have changed the ending like, ten times already. --_--;;

its really good, much better than anything i could do. and its true, you see a hetrosexual couple holding hands and no one says anything, but as soon as its homosexual, well...
its just love at the end of the day, so why do people have a problem with it?

When I was in High School and held my friends hands, who I wasn't even going out with, people would shout "LESBIANS!" and stuff. It was really weird! O.o And after awhile, kind of annoying. People have issues with things that are considered 'different'. Even though I'm a firm believer of "There's no such thing as normal. Everyone's unique." Either that, or they were raised to believe it's wrong and immoral, either taught to them by their parents or even religion. There was a gay boy my little cousin knows who actually was forced to leave the church simply cause he had a boyfriend. Jerks.
